BELSHAW FIFTY SPARKS FIGHTBACK

Singles League

Malc Belshaw came from two frames behind to grab a point against Division One title rival Mike Langdon.  Langdon got off to a great start by pinching the first two frames on the final colours before a quality 50 break got Belshaw back into contention.  In the final frame, it was Langdon who once again came alive on the colours, knocking in a long blue and pink but leaving himself a tricky black with the rest to win the frame and match.  The attempted black stuck in the jaws to leave Belshaw the chance he needed to secure a point.  Neil Elliott took full advantage to close the gap with a good 3-1 home win against Zed Zubair whilst James Notman secured a good win against Adam Goodall.  In the Premier Division the weeks big match between Gary Spencer and Wayne Martin ended up all square as both players struggled to reach the level they are capable of playing at.  For the second time this season the match between Lee Crombie and Jason Turner also ended up all square.  In Division Two Yasin Abbas continues to make a name for himself, this time knocking in a 41 break in his 3-1 away win against Jordan Parnham.  Second placed Shaun Parkinson refuses to be shaken off though, he proved too strong for Sean Croft running out a 4-0 winner.

CLASS Of ?07 SEND CHAMPIONS CRASHING

Knockout Cup Competitions

Defending Handicap Pairs champions Sam Haugh & Wong Yip were sent crashing out of this years competition by BCI club-mates and 2007 winners Jonathan Mason & Kwok Yip who ran out two nil winners.  They will be joined in the semi-finals by Gary Spencer & James Notman who came through 2-1 against Chris Winter & John Fountain in the all Arnold tie.  In the Singles Championship two matches went the distance.  Chris Piech came from behind twice to see off Jonathan Mason whilst last seasons runner-up Zeb Ahmed edged out BCI?s Neil Elliott.  Wong Yip made up for his pairs disappointment with a re-spotted black ball win in the Singles Handicap competition.  Mick Salton came from behind for a good away win against Pegasus?s Mike Langdon but there were no problems for Jamie Mathers who enjoyed a comfortable 2-0 win against Sean Croft.
