Match Report
Congratulations to The Towers Snooker Club on completing the 2013 Tuesday Summer League double!!!

Report in order of frame finishes…

Frame 1: Clint I’Anson 59-16 Scott Higgins

A great start for Beeston with Clint making breaks of 15 and 36 to put himself in control of the frame.  Scott never settles and concedes after failing to take a colour off one of the last reds. (Beeston 1-0 The Towers)

Frame 2: Ant McMahon 37-69 Andy Diacopoulos

Andy gets in first making 11 but is unlucky to go in off the pack.  A good safety battle follows with the stalemate finally being broken by an excellent 31 break from Andy.  Ant seems to be struggling and rattles a few he’d normally make.  Andy seals the frame making a 21 break.  (Beeston 1-1 The Towers)

Frame 3: Clint I’Anson 8-81 Scott Higgins

Scott gets his game into gear in this frame running out a comfortable winner getting in early with a 17 break after a great long opening red.  Scott follows this up with a nice 24 before Clint gets an unfortunate kick (huge) on the pink with his only real chance in the frame.  Scott seals the frame with runs of 15 & 16 to give The Towers the lead. (Beeston 1-2 The Towers)

Frame 4: Ant McMahon 31-56 Andy Diacopoulos

From the off, this frame turns into a long safety battle with one red at a time being moved to the other end of the table.  Andy does force an error and makes a decent 21 break which ends unfortunately due to a miss-cue (language Mr Diacopoulos ;) ).  Ant responds with 19 break but he’s just having one of those nights and finds himself needing a snooker going into the colours which he fails to get. (Beeston 1-3 The Towers)

Frame 5: Neil Jones 19-88 Tony Morgan

Tony starts well making a 19 break and finds himself with a nice 30 point cushion early on. Tony then takes full advantage of a very rusty Neil making breaks of 15 and 27 to seal the frame . (Beeston 1-4 The Towers)

Frame 6: Andy Spicer 54-30 Dan Moll

Excellent frame this one with Andy just nicking it at the end by potting Pink and Black.  Dan makes the better start with a couple of teen breaks but Andy gets himself back in the frame with a well taken 20 break.  Going into the colours there’s just a point separating the players setting up a nervous finish. (Beeston 2-4 The Towers)

Frame 7: Neil Jones 48-53 Tony Morgan

Neil decides that the impression of a grade 5 player he treated us to in the first frame (however funny) was probably not in his teams best interests, and gets off to a much better start this time with a good 22 break.  Neil holds a 14 point lead going into the colours and everyone is beginning to think that perhaps Beeston just might be able to get back into this match.  In the end Neil has a tricky pink for the frame which he catches to thin leaving Tony to play an excellent positional shot from Pink to Black to take the frame and win the KO Cup for his team. (Beeston 2-5 The Towers)

Frame 8: Andy Spicer 47-61 Dan Moll

Another good frame between the two players, Andy gets in first making a 16 break but Dan responds with a good 21.  Both players continue to score at each visit before Dan finally pushes his advantage home with some good pots towards the end of the frame. (Final Score Beeston 2-6 The Towers)

Big thanks and well played to both teams, Alan Cunningham and Paul Wainwright for officiating and Pete Trout and all at BCI for the use of their fantastic Snooker Club.
