Martin Up Into Second Place

Singles League

The fact that Wayne Martin has moved off the bottom of the Premier Division table into 2nd place in just two matches perhaps illustrates just how close the top division is.  Martin made it back-to-back wins with a hard fought 3-1 victory away from home against Chris Piech who is surprisingly still searching for his first win of the season.  Mike Langdon missed a golden opportunity to further extend his lead at the top of Division One after losing the final two frames against Neil Elliott.  Langdon had started well winning the opening two frames before Elliott responded to take a share of the points.  Malc Belshaw is perhaps best placed to chase down Langdon after a solid 3-1 away win against Adam Goodall.  James Notman also kept himself in the hunt with a terrific four nil home win against Toby Irons.  Irons responded well in his rearranged match against Zed Zubair as the two players played out a draw.  The big match in Division Two was between 2nd and 3rd placed players Shaun Parkinson and Shafiq Mohammed with both players happy with a draw.  Eric Towle had a great 4-0 victory over Sean Croft whilst Spider Wilkinson continued his good form winning by the same scoreline against Jordan Parnham.

Big Names Continue To Crash Out

Knockout Cups Round-up

Two more cup favourites bowed out of this years competitions, one of which throws the handicap competition wide open.  The classy Jonathan Mason enjoyed a superb 2-0 win over the much fancied Chris Winter to move into the last 16 of the Singles Handicap Knockout. Mason won both frames comfortably and also had a knock of 39 in an assured performance.  James Notman won two nil against clubmate Alan Cunningham whilst Sean Croft won his first match of the season with an excellent 2-1 win against Stadium veteran Clary Plowman.  Lee Crombie ensured that there would be no shock in his tricky looking tie against Yasin Abbas winning a close match 2-0.  In the Singles Championship Neil Elliott produced a superb performance to see off Wayne Martin by the odd frame in five whilst Nav Hussain was too strong for Sam Haugh as he came through three nil.
