A rapid-fire session of 6 red snooker was played at Stadium Leisure on two tables. The whole match between Stadium Steelers and BCI Super Giants lasted just 50 minutes. Bob Walker and Kwok Yip kicked off by sharing the result with one frame each. Ross Wilkin started well against Neil Elliott, hoping for a decent break but only managed a 13 after missing a crucial black. Elliott then laid some good snookers towards the end to take the first frame. Wilkin managed to stay ahead most of the second frame with Elliott needing to pot the last four colours to take it. Unfortunately he went in-off the pink and Wilkin potted it to take the frame. Daniel Di Folco's only mistake in his first frame was to miss an early red, but with the balls spread nicely Jonathan Mason wasted no time in making a 31 break which took the break point and the frame. Di Folco fought back well in the 2nd frame with some solid potting. He almost beat the highest break with a superb cut on the brown down the rail but he missed a long blue. However he had done enough to win the frame and restrict the Super Giants to a narrow 4-3 victory. Gotham Lions got back to winning ways with a 6-1 demolition of Pegasus Panthers. Steve Howard had breaks of 12 and 14 in a 54-7 win against Chris Mathers in the opening frame. Steve Butler then took on Eric Towle and after developing the reds on 17 Butler missed an easy black off the spot. Unfortunately Towle was unable to capitalise on the error and Butler went on to take the frame and secure the break point with a knock of 27. In frame three Barrie Towle took Steve Kent all the way to the black but Kent potted it to put the Lions 3-0 up and deny Towle senior his first win of the season. Mathers played well in frame four, beating Kent in fine style. Howard and Eric Towle then played out a tight fifth frame which Howard just managed to win. The final frame saw Butler notch up a run of 21 on his first visit following Barrie Towle's loose break off shot. He split the pack nicely but when potting the next red he played a push shot, much to his disgust. Towle fought back valiantly but after he committed a foul on the green Butler cleared the table to wrap up the frame. High flyers Pegasus Pagans were severely tested at Ruddington. The home side’s Dave Griffiths had a bad start and couldn't get into the first frame against Jamie Sampson. The Pegasus player won comfortably and also secured the break point with a wun of 22. Nick Kirkman then took on Sampson in the second frame and both players had chances to build up a lead. Ultimately some good safety from Kirkman and terrific pots on the pink and black sealed the frame for Ruddington. Kirkman faced Mike Langdon in the third and the Pagans captain was seeking revenge after losing out in their previous encounter. Langdon played very carefully and potted some great balls to take the frame and put the Pagans 2-1 up. James Norton beat Langdon in the next to level the match and he then beat Zeb Ahmed in the fifth to put Ruddington 3-2 up. The final frame was effectively a decider between Griffiths and Ahmed. With just the colours remaining there was not a lot in it, but Griffiths gained the advantage by laying a good snooker. Ahmed fouled and this left Griffiths with a great chance to clear the colours. Strangely he elected to make Ahmed play again and the Pagan went on to win the frame and match for his team 4-3. BCI Bandits had a terrific 6-1 win away to Oakleigh Daft Lads. Craig Bradley took the break point for the Bandits with a 25. BCI Braves defeated Oakleigh Miss Fits 5-2 with Toby Irons winning both of his frames. Mick Salmon won one frame and Dave Salmon won a frame and made an 18 break, the highest of the match. The result leaves the Miss Fits rooted to the foot of the group A table. |

Sherwood Daddies are now just five points behind the Pagans in group B after they beat BCI Breakers 5-2 away from home. The Breakers were without Jordan Parnham and Sean Croft who were both on holiday. Bob Wright and Paul Bell were therefore drafted in at short notice. Wright didn’t enjoy his debut as he found himself on the receiving end of Wayne Bilbie’s potting. Bilbie won both frames and had a knock of 20 in the second. Paul Bell did better for the Breakers, winning one and losing one against Gareth Evans. Bell one the first on the black but Evans moved up a gear in the second, making a break of 25 in a 62-8 victory. James Robinson continued to impress for the Breakers with a run of 22 in his first frame win against Lee Crombie. However Crombie hit back in the second, securing the break point for the Daddies with a knock of 27 in a 38-1 win.
