30/03/09: Xiao Guodong beat Michael 5-3 in the wildcard round of the China Open, a result that illustrates that there are no easy matches in the professional game nowadays. Full results on the new look global-snooker.com.

06/02/09: Michael was defeated 5-3 by fellow Nottingham player Anthony Hamilton in the final qualifying round of the Welsh Open. Michael had beaten Stephen Craigie 5-2 in the previous round. Full draw and results can be found on GCS.

24/01/09: Michael qualified for the final stages of the China Open when he beat Ian McCulloch 5-3 at Pontin's. Holt will now face Ding Junhui in the last 32. Full draw and results on GCS.

14/12/08: Michael was beaten 9-7 by Aussie Neil Robertson in the last 32 of the UK Championship.

09/12/08: Michael beat Irishman Fergal O'Brien 9-4 in the final qualifying round of the UK Championship at the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield.

06/12/08: Michael beat Kuldesh Johal 9-5 in round 3 of the UK Championship qualifyers in Shefield.  He now faces Fergal O'Brien in the last 64.

21/11/08: Michael didn't get past round 1 of the Masters qualifyers - he was beaten 4-3 by little known Atthasit Mahitthi.  Full drawsheet at GCS.

10/11/08: Rob Milkins knocked Michael out of the Bahrain Championships at the last 16 stage.  Michael had a terrific 5-3 win over Jamie Cope in the previous round.  Full drawsheet at GCS.

31/10/08: Michael will play Jamie Cope in the first qualifying round of the Bahrain Championship.  Full draw at World Snooker.

30/10/08: Michael beat David Morris 5-0 to qualify for the final stages of the Bahrain Championship which will be held from 8 - 15 November.

25/10/08: Michael will play Atthasit Mahitthi in the first qualifying round of the Masters.  Full draw at World Snooker.

24/10/08: Michael was beaten 3-0 by Barry Hawkins in the last 32 of the Austrian Open.  Full results at GCS.

24/10/08: Michael will face either Kuldesh Johal, Aditya Mehta or Paul Davies in the third round of qualifying for the UK Championship.  Full draw at World Snooker.

12/10/08: Michael reached the last 16 of the Grand Prix where he was beaten by Ding Junhui 5-2.  Full results on GCS.

26/09/08: Michael was drawn against Mark Allen in the first round (last 32) of the Royal London Watches Grand Prix which will be held at the SECC, Glasgow, from 11 October 2008.  The full draw can be viewed on GCS.

25/09/08: Michael beat Jimmy White and Michael Judge to qualify for the final stages of the Royal London Watches Grand Prix.

20/09/08: Michael exited the Belgian Open at the last 32 stage with a 3-0 defeat to Championship League winner Joe Perry. Michael had beaten Chris Henry 3-0 in the previous round.

05/09/08: Michael was defeated by fellow Nottingham potter Anthony Hamilton in the final qualifying round for the Shanghai Masters. Hamilton reflects on the match at the Pro Snooker Blog.

27/08/08: Michael told the Nottingham Evening Post that he had 'no complaints' after his 5-1 defeat to Stephen Maguire in the Northern Ireland Trophy.

26/08/08: The excellent Snooker Scene Blog sang Michael's praises prior to his opening match in the Northern Ireland Trophy.

12/07/08: Michael reached the semi-finals of the SangSom 6-Red International Tournament in Thailand where he lost to Stuart Bingham 3-7. Read full details on the Nottingham Snooker Forum.

05/07/08: Michael reached the quarter-finals of the Ravenace Pro-Am but just lost out to David Grace 5-4.

09/03/08: Michael crashed out of the World Snooker Championship after sufering defeat to Michael Judge 10-6 in the final round of qualifying.

17/02/08: Michael climbed to 33rd in the provisional rankings after the Welsh Open.  Holt beat Joe Delaney 5-4 but lost in the next round 5-1 to Stephen Hendry.

10/02/08: Michael will play Joe Delaney in the first round of the Welsh Open tomorrow at 7pm.

28/01/08: Michael slipped down to number 35 in the provisional rankings after failing to qualify for the China Open in Beijing.

16/12/07: Michael won the InterConnect Dutch Open 2007 when he beat Barry Pinches 6-4 in the final.

13/12/07: Michael was interviewed by Chris Evans on Radio 2 following his defeat to Ronnie in the UK Championship.  Read more here.

28/10/07: Michael reached the last 16 of event 2 in the Ravenace Pro Am Series held at Riley's, Castle Vale, Birmingham.  He was beaten 4-0 by Alan Hooper.

17/10/07: Michael missed out on a place in the last 16 of the Royal London Watches Grand Prix when he finished 3rd in his group behind Ali Carter and Marcus Campbell.

7/10/07: Michael reached the semi-final of the Snooker.de German Open where he was beaten by Joe Perry 3-2.

23/9/07: Michael slipped down to joint 27th place in the provisional rankings, level with Nigel Bond on 12,457.  This follows the Grand Prix qualifiers.

15/9/07: Michael reached the semi-final of event 1 in the Ravenace Pro Am Series held at Riley's, Castle Vale, Birmingham. He was beaten 4-2 by Ricky Walden.  Michael made the highest break of the tournament, a 133. Full results here.

12/9/07: Michael reached the final of the Rushden SC Midweek Pro Am and split the prize money 50/50 with Ian McCulloch.

8/9/07: Michael suffered a shock defeat to Leicester's Ben Woollaston in round 1 of the Saga Insurance Masters qualifying tournament.  Read more here.

2/9/07: Michael lost 4-3 to Michael Judge in round 2 of the Pontins World Pro Am Series (event 4).  He had received a bye in round 1.

30/8/07: Michael was drawn against Ben Woollaston in round 1 of the Saga Insurance Masters Qualifying event.

26/8/07: Michael lost 3-1 to Jamie Cope in the last 16 stage of the Paul Hunter Classic in Germany.

25/8/07: Michael beat Tony Drago 3-1 to reach the last 16 stage of the Paul Hunter Classic in Germany.

26/7/07: Michael beat Noppadol Sangnil 4-1 in the quarter-finals of the CAT Telecom-Chanthaburi Thailand Cup 2007 to set up a semi-final clash with James Wattana.  Click here for a report.

24/7/07: Michael beat Supoj Saenla 4-1 in the last 16 of the CAT Telecom-Chanthaburi Thailand Cup 2007 having already dispatched Saharat Charoensak 4-0 in the wild card round.  Click here for a report.

29/6/07: Michael made short work of David Roe in the final round of qualifying for the Shanghai Masters at Pontins. He won the match 5-1 and will play Graeme Dott in the last 32 in August.

16/6/07: Michael lost 5-4 to Issara Kachaiwong in the semi-final of the Thailand Open. Kachaiwong went on to beat James Wattana 5-2 in the final.
