REGIONAL JUNIOR TOUR

EVENT 3 2008-2009


The English Regional Junior Tour is a set five events for players Under 20 played in three area?s North, Midlands and South at various clubs through the season.

The eventual top 3 players in each area will be promoted to the Premier Junior Tour that comprises of a set 48 players.

Player?s who finish 4-6 in the three area?s on the RJT play off next May for any additional PJT places.

North ? Eckington SC, Sheffield ? 39 players
Consistent John Roberts, Liverpool is now in 2nd place after defeating Glen Bowman, Gateshead 2-1 in the final with a break of 56 in the deciding frame after losing the first.

Roberts who has reached the last eight in all the first three events only finished 2nd in his group behind Keith Kinnersley accounted for Jamie Gibson 2-1, Chris Keoghan and Damien Wilks 2-0 in the knockout stage.

Wilks had beaten the regions rankings leader Elliot Slessor 2-1 in the last 16 the twice winner made breaks of 88 and 128 the highest overall break in the regions so far in the group stage.

Runner up Bowman who also finished his group in 2nd place jumps up to 3rd place from 7th he defeated Oliver Calland 2-0, Richard Remelie and Michael Williams
both 2-1.

Thomas Saddington, Keoghan and Darryl Hill reached the quarter finals for the first time, Jonathan Buglass a finalist in the 1st event failed to progress from the groups.

Two group winners not mentioned Daniel Womersley and Anthony Green, Saddington finished with the best group average 2.3 after losing just one frame.

Top 8; Slessor 511, Roberts 467, Bowman 382, Gibson 362, Buglass 359.5,
Remelie 323, Wilks 320, Womersley 262.

Midlands ? Rileys, Lincoln ? 28 players
Alex Anastasiou, Derby who had had not managed to get further than the last 16 in the first two events defeated Event 2 finalist Tom Kerslake, Long Eaton 2-0 in the final to leap up to 9th place.

The winner only scraped into the last 16 from 3rd in his group behind Kerslake who recorded a 11/1 frame score to match Callum Downing?s average who made the regions highest break 78.

Anastsaiou overcame Sameer Knight 2-0 then previous event winners Sharukh Nasir and rankings leader Nikolas Charalambous the both 2-1.

Kerslake cruised through to his winning all three of his matches 2-0.

Top 8; Charlambous 556, Kerslake 511, Nasir 497, Andrew Smith 360,
Phil Parkin 351, Downing 323, Knight 321, Lewis Mayes 320.

South ? Fareham SC ? 34 players
Young Shane Castle, Southampton enhanced his potential beating Event 1 winner Kurtis Weaver, Bristol 2-0 with breaks of 40 and 68 to top the regions rankings.

Castle who won his group losing just one frame then beat Haydon Pinhey 2-0, Michael Grinsted quarter finalist in all three events and Liam Tinne in the last four for the first time both 2-0.

Weaver defeated Phil O?Kane and Adam Bobat 2-1 then Mark Green 2-0, Green made the days highest break 82 and was the only player to register a 100% group record over the three regions.

Other unbeaten group winners Sean O?Sullivan, Weaver, Castle and Bobat.

Ollie Tydeman the Event 2 winner failed to progress from the group stage.

Top 8; Castle 456, Lawrence Oliver 452, Weaver 425, O?Sullivan 420,
Ollie Tydeman 365, Grinsted 361, Green 331, Tinne 330.

Event 4 Saturday January 24th ? Entries closed

North ? Northern SC, Leeds
Midlands ? Willie Thorne SC, Leicester
South ? Plymouth

Final Event March 14th ? Closing date February 13th
