Steve Butler 4-0 Cary Davies

Cary got off to a good start potting some great balls but I managed to claw my way back into the first frame.  It went down to the pink and Cary unfortunately missed the pink altogether when trying to play safe and this handed me the frame.  Cary gradually started to miss pots and I had a bit of running which enabled me to win 4-0 in a scrappy match.  The highest break was about 22!

No doubt Cary will get his revenge when I go to Pegasus later in the season.....

Mike Langdon 1-3 Steve Butler

I feel like Man Utd, playing poorly and still winning after extra time!

Mike easily won the first frame but I managed to win the second.  I honestly cannot remember much about it but I won somehow!

The crucial third frame got a bit twitchy with both of us refusing 50/50's.  It went down to the black and Mike very bravely went for a cross double.  He played it superbly but as it dropped in the middle the white looked like it would follow it in, however it hit the jaw, ran straight across the table and into the opposite middle!  Desperately unlucky for Mike who was absolutely gutted to find himself 2-1 down.

The final frame kicked off after 11pm so we both went for everything early on and Mike took the lead with a well crafted 19 break.  Again I managed to claw my way back into it as Mike left me on a few times.  I managed to pot the blue and needing just the pink I played safe (yes, sorry Mike I was playing safe) but amazingly I doubled the pink into one of the tightest corner pockets on any snooker table anywhere in the world.  So I won the match with a fluke, really sorry Mike you deserved at least a draw.

:sorry:

Thanks to Dan for supplying us with the drinks and for Donna for allowing us to stay after hours to finish the match.

A tip for any other Pegasus player - get me on table 2, I HATE it!

;)

To go down in nottm snooker folklore as the 'cross double hex'...castel-nuovo you have a lot to answer for as I never used to play them until you pointed the way to the dark side like some shady crack cocaine dealer, now after a short lived high it's causing me nothing nothing but pain!

The cross double I attempted was tough but I knew I could get a good White by sending it through baulk off 2 cushions and back down towards the black cushion. Curse that middle jaw for getting in the way. Must have looked hilarious as firstly I gave a fist pump as the black dropped, showed concern as steve said that's in-off, more elation as I realise it's hitting the jaw quickly followed by deflation as steve perks up with as I said it's in the middle as the cue ball bounces off the cushion at some weird angle and rolls for an eternity across the table I to the opposite middle. I drop to my knees, steve runs off pissing himself laughing....I think what also made it worse was that we both were on the black for about 10 minutes. We both rattled it a few times, played some great safety exchanges and also both ran our luck a few times.

Steve's cross double on the pink to win the match was also played brilliantly and I called great shot as it left the cushion as was going nowhere else but the middle of the tightest pocket in the club. Obviously really rubbed salt to hear he hadn't played it and was lucky....wish he didn't tell me .

Well played mate always a pleasure. :bravo: :bravo:

Mike - I agree with you totally Castel-Nuovo has a lot to answer for!!!!!!

He "Luves a dabble!!!!!" and I have witnessed some of his more scary one's recently - in fact he played a "back treble" against Cris Winter on Tuesday - which was incredible - it flew in and he didn't bat an eyelid (Impressive stuff).

You know that watching DCN should come with a health Warning!!!!!!

He also played one in the 6 Reds final against Jason Bettridge a few weeks ago - he even looked up to see if I was watching first (I shook my head) and he still went for it and got it.

Legend Status for DCN I think!!!!

Steve Butler 2-2 Ant McMahon

I went 2-0 up in this match without playing particularly well.  It took Ant a while to get warmed up.

In the third frame Ant played much better safety and he didn't give me a sniff.

The final frame was all Ant and he potted like a demon, winning the frame easily in about 10 minutes for a 2-2 draw.

Well played Ant, a draw was a fair result.

Sounds like a fair result, Thats a good result for me too after i slipped up on saturday aganist Mike Langdon.

Jamie Sampson 3-1 Steve Butler

I went 19 down in the first frame with 18 on the table.  Jamie then did a "Zeb", missing the blue completely and I went on to pot the remaining colours (not all in one go, I'm not that good!) to go 1-0 up.

Both of us were struggling but Jamie suddenly found some form in frame 2, making an impressive 62 break to level at 1-1.

Frame 3 was scrappy and I had a great chance to win it.  I potted the pink and had an easy black off the spot for the frame but I missed it like a plonker and Jamie made me pay, potting the black to go 2-1 up.

Frame 4 was all Jamie and I ended up conceding with reds still on the table.

Well done Jamie, we both struggled for most of the match but the better man won.

See you on Sunday.
