Neil Jones (+7)   3-1   Wayne Martin (scr)

Congratulations to Neil Jones on becoming the first player from Beeston Snooker Hall to lift The Handicap Singles Trophy.  Jones started the match brightly and powered into an early lead helped by a good 35 break to win the opening frame.  Wayne Martin rallied in the next frame making a cool 35 clearance to get himself back into the match but the rivival was short lived.  A tactical and perhaps crucual third frame went the way of Jones who managed a 24 break early on in the frame before capitalizing on several errors from Martin who appeared to be struggleing to find any kind of rhythm to his game.  The final frame was a close encounter but Jones who's long potting was superior throughout the match finally had his opponent at the snookers required stage with some fine pots to win the match 3-1.

Well played to both players and a big thankyou to Steve Butler for refereeing the match and Sherwood Social Club for their hospitality and use of their match table.  Exciting times at Sherwood Social Club and it's great to see a good news story about a snooker club rather than the usual closures etc....it all sounds and looks very impressive  :bravo: :welldone: :bravo:

I love the stats Mike.  Well done to Neil who looked very dangerous when he got in around the black, although I think he was lacking match practise as he kept losing position.

I'll try and get the video of the match on Youtube in the next few days although it may take me a while to edit out all the expletives that were emanating from the next table!
