Wayne Martin

A tight match that went down to the final pink with Wayne Martin progressing to the semi-finals.
This was always going to be tough giving 35 points away to a fearless opponent who has knocked out some really good players.
The ever improving Croft proved tough opposition on the tight BCI match table and had an opportunity to win the match after being a frame down.

Frame 1:
A tight safety battle with Croft holding his own against the experienced Martin.
Croft was tempted into a long shot too often and it was Martin who took the opening frame on the colours.

Frame 2:
Croft managed to get 45 points in front before Martin started to pull the frame back. A 20+ break getting Martin back into contention.
This wasn't enough and a loose shot from Martin allowed Croft to clear the colours to the blue to take the frame.

Frame 3:
Croft starting this in an agressive mood and having a lash at a long red and leaving Martin amongst the reds.
Martin made a 48 break and  tried to extend the break by taking on a cross double which then left Croft back in the balls to score a few points.

Martin then got 26 in front and missed match ball black giving Croft one final sniff of victory.
Croft cleared the colours in style to the pink, but left this in a difficult position and missed an opportunity.
Martin didn't miss again and dispatched the pink and claimed the match.

Unlucky Sean, you played well.
Can't see you being off that handicap for much longer if you keep improving like you have been.

Thanks Sean - not too sure about the high class bit   - keep practising mate, the breaks are starting to happen.
You looked dangerous the other night and were unlucky not to win.

Don't forget that you don't have to go for everything though - sometimes its better to wait!!!!!!

Your safety was solid as well and you had me under pressure a fair bit.

Gutted for you sean!! Was hoping you won it, so I could at least claim to have been beaten by the winner!! Im with Wayne, on the fact that your a good player, improving quickly, and with that handicap, a very dangerous opponant. Credit to wayne by using his experience,  to progress. Sounded a great match, well done sean on progressing so far also
