Steve Howard

PLAYED SUN 7TH FEB,2010
Frame 1
Steve Capsey really needing to win this,to extract revenge from Steve Howard, for beating him on their 1st meeting!
The frame started off well enough with capsey playing good safety strokes, not wanting to leave Howard anything easy!
Steve Howard, got in first and took the lead,Steve jnr, catching up with a well taken mini break of 16,to claw back his deficit.
Howard kept things tight, and managed to add to his lead.
By now it was down to the colours, and a lose safety, from Capsey, may have been an attempted pot on the yellow, left Steve Howard, with an easy yellow, from which perfect position was gained for green, then brown, blue and pink made it impossible for Steve jnr,to catch him,as he was now easily into the 'snookers required' stage this gave Steve Howard the 1st frame
1-0

Frame 2
Steve Howard was beginning to warm up now,(p'haps i shuda' played with my coat on eh?)
Anyway, this frame see-sawed one way then another, and after good pots from both players,Steve jnr took a 15 point lead.with just 22 points left on the table.
Steve Howard, knew he needed to clear all,and Steve jnr, knew he only needed the brown to leave Howard needing a snooker, all to play for then!
After much safety on the brown,Capsey, stuck up the brown for Howard to pot, playing a nice positional shot for the right angle on the blue to give him position on pink.
Steve Howard thought he'd done enough, but on taking a glance at the scores realised he still needed the black as well, well he was so dumbfounded at not having played for the black,as he 'thought it was all over'

Steve jnr attempted a safety on the black as the fine cut he thought was on,wasn't really,so a great safety was needed,to put pressure on Steve Howard. He played the safety but . . .much to his horror the white ball was heading for the middle pocket.Well,he couldn't believe his luck it didn't go in ,well not that middle anyway,Steve Capsey thought he'd had a lucky escape, only to watch the white, come outa the jaws of the middle, only to go straight across into the opposite middle,to hand Steve Howard the frame and match.
2-0
Very unlucky Steve jnr mate, i thought you'd forced our match to go into the decider, can't believe your bad luck on the final black,!
As always though it was played in a very friendly spirit!
:bravo:
