wow that's some scoreline....Super Elites on Fire  :bravo:

Reckon i did well to avoid this one  ;)

I think i can put your mind at rest Kwok (or perhaps make you worry more as my maths is rubbish) but i think you have topped the group by 0.7 of a point as Oakleigh also put in a superb performance by beating Mapperley 682-470.

By my calculations......

Super Elites   averaged 618
The Lodge    averaged  617

One thing is for sure is that both these teams progress into the semi's of both the KO & Plate comps and would like to wish both sides all the best.

Cheers

Daniel

Well played 'Elites', you completely hammered us! :welldone:

In the away leg, the only way we stood any chance of competing was if we settled quickly and took our chances.  Well that just didn't happen, largely down to not being allowed to by superior play.  I did get 3 good chances and missed on the colours so deserved to lose.
Tony didn't give me much after that, hence the scoreline.  I don't think Jason gave Ken too many chances so he never settled either.  It was a similar story in the other frames.  The scores really did reflect the frames unfortunately for us.

Back to the practice table for me to sort out some bad habits and serious issues with my cue action.

Oh well, goodbye cup for the year!

Well played again.

Kwok Yip

Cheers Daniel,

I would just like to tell you matey without wanting to sound "Big headed" Your not the only one who finds it tricky to settle at the Bci snooker centre for many reasons. We have a very experienced side who gives very little easy chances away there for makes the most of the home advantage and also the match table is very tight and challenging for opponents who are not use to them. Not many teams even in divison one go away with much joy at our home base.

The tables here are far more challenging so the margin for error is much smaller. I hear alot of players saying they find it very tricky here from other clubs. Personally I love these challenging match tables, it teaches you to strike the ball better and more true. The aim is to strike the balls well and into the heart of the pocket every time. This requires good cuing and a great boost in your confidence as it more centre of the pocket you hit the greater margin of error on any table. I see alot of players on away tables get 40 breaks wiping it's boots on every shot, this would never be a 40 break on our home tables.

I do think if you play on big pocket tables it can give you a false sence of your ability. Poor cuing is Not magnified as on tough match tables as the margin of error is far greater.  My Former Elites player and great friend now at Pegasus A will tell you the same!

Thanks for the quick calculations yesterday Daniel, talk about too many cooks spoil the broth

 :england:Thats awsome news Steve :england:

My team Bci Super Elites have given me 110% and deserve their place in the semi finals of the winners Ko cup against another mouth watering draw against the mighty Pegasus. Our group of death was ultra tight topping the group by Just 1 point says it all with three great 8-0 floorless wins.

You're right about the tables mate.  I was warming up with Wayne on a table with easier pockets and was struggling already so I guessed I might be in for a tough away night (I played on your tables last week too so it was no surprise).  It was a good chance to measure up and see where we were at though.  Now we know how hard we have to work to get back on a level.

We considered keeping it tight but our captain texted us just before the match. We needed an average of 60 points per frame to have a chance of qualifying so we had to take the odd chance.  It may have backfired a touch but better to have had a go I suppose.  We did try Mike. :sorry:

Will be a great semi-final between what I regard as probably the 2 strongest club sides in Notts (sorry Beeston and Arnold).  I'll probably be in Pegasus preparing for the Nottingham Grand Prix (now you lot knocked us out you ruthless fiends).  I'll definitely have an eye on the match. It should be a cracker.

Kwok Yip

Wow Daniel,

You had to win by 60pts per frame to stand a chance getting through, a very tall order to say the least! It's been a very tough group "group of death!" we have won all our matches 8-0 and by a good margin and still wasn't guaranteed to finish Top! I'm so glad we did it would of been a very difficult to imagine finishing second to a team who we beat 8-0 too! So because of the nature of this cup it's understandable why your great captain Mike Langdon said go for it! I would of said the same. We had some key players missing for the game against you but realising that three floorless 8-0 performances guaranteed you nothing, I said what will be will be! You can't ask more of your players if they already giving you 110%

I understand that this cup has been designed to give the division two teams a better chance of getting through by giving them bigger handicaps, so knowing that it's extra credit to all the top division one side for managing to finish top! I believe the top side giving big stars had to win and make things happen if they was to stand any chance. Some division two team had as much as 240pts start every match to add to their total even before any ball was even struck. Even with the greatest of players we've all played snooker long enougth to realise that frames don't always go to plan colours run safe, bad kisses, kicks cannons not going to plan not to mention your opponents run, all adds extra pressure on the teams and players needing to make things happen inorder to win by a big margin required.

That's why Credit to Pegasus A, Beeston, Bci Super Elites, and maybe Arnold CD pending on their final game for achieving this top spot! Almost like a game of football it stars off 0-0 alot of teams go away to big clubs and defend by packing their defence and making life tricky but the bigger teams have to make things happen if they are to achieve their goals whilst staying as it is is a result for the smaller clubs. There are also some good individual division two players in some teams such :bravo: :bravo: as your very own captain Mr Langdon who could put up a great challenge against alot of division one players, with his great experience and knowledge not to mention his silky skills would know exactly how to make things tricky as possible for player of teams who have to make things happen to stand a chance of qualifying.

I don't know, I suppose many division two teams and players may disagree and think they didn't get enough start. One things for sure nothing is ever suitable for everyone and you can't please everyone so just the majority. I leave the organising to the professionals Steve and Mike who alway do a fantastic job!

Great work guys!

I tell you Not enough credit is given to these two top guys for all their time, commitment and hard work in making this Nottingham snooker
fantastic forum what it is today! Keep up the amazing work much appreciated guys :bravo: :bravo:

I better clarify that for you, we needed 60 points per frame average mate, NOT win by 60.  Still a tall order but possible.

You're right about Mike being more than capable of making things tough for a lot of players.  We were a bit unluckly not having one of our best players available.  If we got a few more points (I missed the black several times) you might have been second in the group.  It was bloody close.  We would still have been out though, so never mind.
