Pegasus 'B'   6-2    City Hospital

Pegasus Snooker Club 'B' remain in second place after a good 6-2 victory over City Hospital Leisure Centre.  At Pegasus Steve Booth fought back from 30 down but was a relieved man at the end after his opponent Les Smith was most unfortunate to go in-off on the black.  Pegasus were soon two up after the inform Andy Orange (he drives an orange car with sporty stripes you know....how great is that?) was too strong for City Hospital's Lee Archer running out a 54-17 winner.  Perhaps the best frame of the evening was played out between Danny Knowles and Sean Croft in a high scoring and very close encounter.  The fast improving Sean Croft who also knocked in a 20 something break during the match sunk the final black to pinch the frame by just 1 point and pull City Hospital back into the match.  Pegasus sealed the leg win with a dominant performance in the pairs where Orange and Booth proved too strong for City Hospital's Smith & Archer.  A good old fashioned 4 singles frames were played down at City Hospital and with player numbers up this season at several clubs perhaps this format is slowly coming back into vogue within the Nazareth House Snooker League. Pegasus got off to a great start by winning the opening two frames of the evening.  Mike Langdon looked in good touch knocking in a 21 break in his win against Jordan Parnham whilst Chris Mathers won his second frame of the season with a good win over Chris Willett.  Mathers knocked in a great green but snookered himself behind the blue on the brown, undetered the Pegasus youngster managed to pot the brown from the escape and sink the blue to put the frame beyond a flabbergasted Willett.  At two up Pegasus looked like they were going to run away with the match but City Hospital's Rob Wallace and John Bakewell had other ideas.  Rob Wallace looked sharp against Eric Towle with a solid 68-34 win to make it two one whilst Bakewell was entertaining the crowd with some great pots even better flukes and some truly awful attempts at swerving the cue ball.  Whatever he was doing was working though as he built up a slender lead over Pegasus's Ken Michell who was struggling.  Luckily for the Pegasus man a fluked snooker leaving the cue ball tight behind the pink was followed with a perfectly executed snooker behind the same ball, both of which Bakewell failed to get out of. Michell finally wrapped up the win with good pots on blue and pink for a good 6-2 win.

Hard luck City Hospital the match could easily have been a draw had your man not gone in off at Pegasus and Ken hadn't got that lucky snooker in the last frame.  Really enjoyed the match which was played in great spirit.  Did have to laugh when John rapped his cue against the table only to be reminded by Chris that it was actually his cue!
