phoenix  3 vs  5  bci e'lites  22/09/09
(breaks in brackets)
frame 1:

steve (capt'n) howard  29 v  66 jason bettridge

the newly promoted phoenix start their season in division 1,and the first frame between our captain (steve),and j. bettridge was an
exciting encounter.
the frame was much closer than the score suggests,as steve was down to the last 3 colours needing one snooker to win!!
faced with a blue near the yellow baulk pocket, steve chose to attempt to lay a snooker, behind the pink and black,(rather than pot the easy blue) but unluckily for steve, the blue finished badly and in an easy pottable position for jason to knock in to leave easy position on pink and then black.
no breaks to speak of really in this frame, but lots of excellent safety from both players, both trying to extract the error from their respective opponent to gain advantage.
well played jason,i enjoyed playing you, :bravo:

frame 2:
garry birks 29 v  74 t.collins

didn't see this match as was playing mine at the time, but garry tells me,he was at one point 6 points behind, when his opponent played really good safety shots, and tightened up his game enough to leave garry by the wayside.hence the scoreline.
well played mr.collins, sorry don't know your first name. :bravo:

frame 3:
roger giddens 24 v 82 james.moore (think there was a 3o something break in this frame, but would need to be confirmed as it wasn't put on the score sheet for me)

unlucky our man, but well played to james moore  :bravo:

frame 4:

steve (capt'n) howard  64 (28) v 29 bettridge/collins

steve really got going in this doubles frame, potting very good balls, and in the middle of the frame knocked in a very good 28 break, which shoulda bin more, but for a red that decided to stay out of the pocket and hover for the opponents.
steve also knocked in the colours up to and including the pink to seal the frame win for his team, his doubles partner, garry potted some good reds and colours to add to the already accumulating scoreline, enjoyed this doubles, against t.collins and j.bettridge well played lads
but unlucky in this frame, was nice for us to come away with a frame under our belts at least.

frame 5:
ryan baker 50 v 42  wong
good win for ryan, but as you see from the score it went all the way to the wire.

frame 6:
'awsworth' ash goring 34 v 71 kwok

unlucky ash,and well played to you kwok, hope it was an enjoyable evening for you e'lites coming over again to our venue?
i'm sure ash enjoyed his frame with you and woulda' bin a little dissappointed to have lost, but i'm sure it was played in the best of spirits
:welldone:

frame 7:
stephen lally 24  v 69 (31) sam
unlucky our man 'lally',but good win for 'sam' for the bulwell crew, sam got a good 31 break in this frame too, well done  :welldone:

frame 8:
stephen lally 59 (40) v 13  kwok/sam

great win for our ash and stephen in this doubles frame, with our man 'lally' knocking in a fab 40 break, wot the hells up with you stephen??
where on earth are these 40 odd breaks coming from ha ha!!
well . . wherever they're coming from try & keep them up,and nice break mate!! unlucky kwok and sam,
2 frames all on the night at our eastwood venue, with a 1-3 loss away means bci,win 5-3 overall, good win for you lads, and great meetin some new faces, and just the whole experience of playing in div 1 is a nice feeling too!!
see you all again next time lads  :bravo:

Great match report Steve, watch out for it in Ballsmania!

Stephen Lally - 40 break! Wow!  A great advert for having babies

;)

Considering the players BCI Super Elites had in their side, that's a very good result.

Nice one Steve, I think you summed the matches well! A good evening at Phoenix venue all matches played in great spirt finishing even on the night! A good 31-break from Super sub Sam! And a super 40-Break by Mr Lally in the pairs! At Bci you summed it up well with Jamie Moore getting a 37-break! My Bci Super Elites team was missing allot of key players this week, struggling to find even 6 to play this week, grabbing subs rather than postponing so I'm glad we gave you a game and just made the 5-3 win! Taking nothing away from Phoenix on the night, as like Steve said a very creditable 5-3 result for the newly promoted side against a very experienced division one side! Good luck for the rest of the league Steve, hope you continue to be a handful for the rest of the teams "give em hell mate!" keep up the hard work, well done Lads    :welldone: :bravo:

thanx steve, yes considering the players they had,i s'pose it was a good result we had,in my match with jason bettridge, had i had potted the last 3 colours i would only have lost by a point,so gives you some idea how i faired myself against a div 1 player. but i needed a snooker and in trying for it,left the blue 'on',but you gotta go for the snooker and the win right??
loved their match table at bci, great lighting made it sooo!!! much easier you actually got to see the outside edges of the balls, making the potting angles easier to judge
woulda' bin nice to have just pipped jason in my match as we'd have ended up with an outright draw, which woulda' made me pleased as punch for our 1st div 1 match.

hi wayne, yes i couldn't believe our mr lally got a 40 break in his match, great stuff tho' i'm sure he was pleased too! and i bet he shocked himself too! let's hope he can play like that again for us,fingers crossed mr.lally from your captain,(if your reading this post)
good win for you and pegasus (i see you've switched teams-this season wayne)
on a personal note for me & my team,i just hope we can play to as good a standard as possible, and do ourselves justice, and at the very least,do enough to maybe stay in div 1-hears hoping wayne

I'm sure you'll do just fine Steve.  I think Phoenix, Stadium, Mapperley and BCI Braves will all be pretty evenly matched.  Also remember that two out of the four of us will end up with a play-off place and the chance to win the 3rd place trophy, so there's all to play for!

Steve Howard

yeh . . i'm sure we will, thanx for the vote of confidence from you anyway,it always does you good anyway playing better players,it naturally makes you think more about the way you play your game too.anyway steve,my man, hope to see you when we come to play stadium mate! look forward to then

Yep, looking at the revised fixture list, we are due to meet on 3rd November.  There should be a few fireworks that night!

awsworth_ash

Im not surprized whatsoever by super steve lalleys 40 break, if anything surprised he didnt make more after all the hard work he did! He has been knocking in decent breaks when we have a knock, just a case of putting 2 20-odd breaks together!

On a personal note, i was so revved up to play kwok, but unfortunately, missed out on 2 good chances to get in the balls, although sayin that, Kwok must have caught whatever i had, as he also missed balls he would usually get. Either way, i battled on, but a fair result in the end. Well played!  :welldone:

Steve Howard

yeh thinking about it ash stephen has been playing much better lately hasn't he? and he got a 48 agenst rog in a knock the other week so i do hope he keeps it up as i stated earlier, well done lally and keep it up mate!!

I must admit guys that I think he has improved a hell of a lot.

During the last comp at your place we could see the improvement - he is getting very dangerous like the rest of you guys at Eastwood.
You have a really strong team developing there with a great attitude!!!!!!!

Keep it up - its great to see a developing side pushing their way up the league :-)

Nice picture mate - Have you done any modelling? :-)

That sounds like a challengle match developing between you guys, watch him Kwok, he's a bit dangerous. I'm still scarred from the one and only time I played against Ash.
